The GrenFin project continues its development at a distance

As is occurring in other R&D studies in which MIWenergía is involved, alternatives are being sought to counteract the effects of the pandemic in order to continue with the development of the study, in this case, the GrenFin project.

Last week, a new follow-up meeting of the GrEnFIn project was scheduled to be held in Vienna. However, due to the exceptional state in which we live, the meeting was held remotely, taking advantage of the possibilities offered by current technology. Thus, a videoconference was organized in which the different members of the project attended virtually in order to advance in the development of the project. On behalf of MIWenergíaWe were represented by our colleague Pablo Barrachina, who contributed to summarize our main tasks carried out in recent months and to contribute our point of view on different aspects of the project.

The digital meeting was used to discuss the summer course scheduled for this June at the University of Bologna. The only change is that the course will be held online to ensure the safety and health of the participants. The methodology and material for the master's course will be based on the results of the questionnaire completed by a wide range of stakeholders. This questionnaire was completed by various actors involved in the energy sector, both professionals in the sector and universities. The purpose of this questionnaire was to assess the challenges faced by companies with the energy transition, what knowledge the future sustainability experts who will graduate from the master's degree should have, and to gather the assessment and opinion of the current educational system to face the challenges of this transition. In addition, the meeting served to determine the next steps to be taken and the internal organization of the project and the consortium. The results of this survey will be shared at the end of May through the project website.

The next meeting is scheduled to be held in June, after the completion of the summer course, which will serve to evaluate the results of the course. The meeting will also be telematic in order to maintain maximum precautions at this time of health crisis. In this next meeting, in addition to checking the functioning of the educational methodology to be applied in the master's course, the impact of COVID-19 on the project and the corrective measures to be applied in order to continue the development of the project while meeting 100% of the project's objectives will be studied.
